With this shirt we pick up where the legendary surrealist Rene Magritte left off, as there is a far greater Treachery of Images today than ever before as people abandon the analog pleasures of life for virtual simulation.
In this design, a headset-wearer extends her hand, evoking the curve of the pipe in Magritte's original painting, while below it the text declares "Ceci n'est pas une realité," "this is not a reality." Magritte commented of his own work:
"The famous pipe. How people reproached me for it! And yet, could you stuff my pipe? No, it's just a representation, is it not? So if I had written on my picture 'This is a pipe', I'd have been lying!"
